In this course the student examines the theories, practices, and principles related to internal hospital management. Key hospital departments, as well as management issues, trends and limitations are reviewed. General principles and fundamentals of healthcare administration are presented and analyzed to acquire general hospital management knowledge. This approach also provides insight applicable to new problems in the future of hospitals. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

After completing Hospital Management, you should be able to 

  • Discuss the overall structure, issues, trends, and limitations of a hospital’s organization 
  • Assess key departments, issues, trends and limitations within a hospital and challenges in each, including electronic health records and needs
  • Discuss the role of an effective manager/leader in a hospital setting 
  • Propose a hospital system that will meet the healthcare needs of the future
