Course Description

 In this capstone course for the Strategic Management concentration, students will integrate their academic and professional experiences to build strategies for organizational success. By presenting and discussing advanced strategic practices and management concepts, the course explores why some businesses prosper while others flounder in a competitive global marketplace.

Course Objectives

After completing Advanced Organizational Management, you should be able to

  • Integrate organization development principles and managerial practices to create a strategy for prosperously growing a global business;
  • Elaborate on the impact internal and external environmental issues have on assessing an organization's competitiveness in a global marketplace;
  • Validate top-level management decisions relative to ethical principles and standards in satisfying organization stakeholders (e.g., the board of directors, customers, stockholders, employees, etc.);
  • Propose techniques and theories in solving human relations issues (e.g., resistance to change, effective leadership styles, team conflict, personnel management, etc.);
  • Discuss the main principles and characteristics of the multiple models for managing organizational development to improve the quality control and utilization of the firm’s resources; and
  • Improve managerial decision-making skills that utilize empirical data and information to avoid systematic biases and create optimal solutions.
