Dear Baker On-Going Ed Participants,

Welcome to the spring course, "Digital Portfolios for Your Learners"! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to work on this course. The class is now up and running, so you can get started anytime. My hope is that the topics discussed will be of benefit to you and give you additional ideas that can be applied in your classrooms right away. The goal is not to take too much of your time each week (I am a kindergarten teacher with two active boys and a husband who is a middle school math teacher and coach), so I definitely understand how busy this time of year is. I hope the apps and activities used in the weeks to come will provide resources and ideas that you can put to use right away.

There are time estimations for each assignment on your syllabus.  It takes into account your experiences as a teacher, the time you spend in the classroom, and the time you spend creating projects and lesson plans.  It does not mean it will take you that long to do each part of the assignment.  Read the assignments and work your way back through the resources for support.  Don't get too worried about the time estimations when you see the syllabus.

When you are getting set up on Seesaw, let me know if you are having trouble connecting.  The QR code in the syllabus doesn't change, but the text code changes every hour.  You can text me, (913)568-7152, and if I'm near the computer can send you a text code to access within the hour.  Fingers crossed the QR code works.

Weekly assignments can be posted to Moodle or you can email your responses to me directly if that is easier (leahhuntley@fac.bakeru.edu). Your lesson plans and reflections can be made in the form of bullet points if you prefer that format to paragraph form. You are welcome to work week by week or at a more rapid pace, whatever is most convenient to you. We can not post final grades until the class officially ends in April, even if you complete the course early. But...I know how this time of year is. Some weeks are extremely busy while others offer you more time to work on a few assignments in a condensed amount of time.

Thank you again for enrolling in this course. I look forward to getting started and connecting with you in the weeks ahead.

Sincerely,
Leah Huntley
