Course title: Real Men Play Naked! Ancient Sport, Modern Identities
Description: Sport has always been
much more than just games. In various time periods and global regions, it has (among
other things) served as a method of social control, a source of
social/cultural/ethnic identity, a political tool, and a way of policing
gender. As we explore this global phenomenon, we will examine topics such as
ancient Greek and Roman sport, the Olympics, amateurism, and fandom.
