In a global innovation-driven economy, IP strategy must be central to overall business strategy.  IP strategy and management focuses on creatively managing IP assets to ensure not only a competitive advantage, but also to build significant value in the business enterprise. 

 

In this course, students will learn of the importance of IP strategy when forming business decisions, the theories of IP Strategy in business, and the commercialization and valuation associated with effective strategy. 

 

Course Objectives:

  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental concepts surrounding IP strategy and management.
  • Students will be able to identify key targets of mergers and acquisitions, IP profiles, and the value of IP in business transactions.
  • Students will develop essential research and writing skills as applied throughout course discussion boards and case studies.
